JOULES ACCELERATOR

The climate tech accelerator of the Southeast.

Ready. Set. Pilot.

Joules is a non-profit organization that supports early-stage climate tech startups in the Southeast and beyond. Our team makes quick, warm connections to relevant network stakeholders across the region, and finds revenue-generating pilots and other commercialization opportunities for member startups. Our partners include Duke Energy, Microsoft, S&C Electric, EY and more. 

IDENTIFY

We conduct due diligence on hundreds of startups, narrowing down to 7-10 per cohort.

ADVISE

We pair startups with network advisors and supported through a 90-day accelerator program.

CONNECT

We connect startups to industry partners and business development opportunities. 

DEPLOY

We support startup launches, pivots and pilot projects to ensure tech is ready for market.

Duke Energy Foundation Funds "Joules Camp"

Our 90-Day Program Process

STEP ONE

Apply through our Cohort Application. Select teams will receive an invite for a quick call. Cohort finalists will be announced within a month of application close. All applicants will receive a follow up. 

STEP TWO

If selected, you will be onboarded, paired with a student intern, and connected to industry advisors who will help find commercialization opportunities for you.

STEP THREE

Cohort startups participate in occasional in person and virtual events to pitch to potential customers. Our job is to help you make meaningful and lasting connections.

STEP FOUR

After 90 days, you and your cohort graduate and become eligible to apply for a Joules Camp pilot grant ($10-20k) to deploy your technology with our partners in underserved communities across the Carolinas.

Consideration for Joules Camp, which includes core team support and pilot project sponsorship

Engagement and community building with other climate tech founders and teams

Entry Criteria

All climate facing technologies, especially those focused on decarbonization and electrification

Building a scalable product or service that would benefit from a pilot

Demonstrated traction and are between Pre-Seed and Series A stage

Your startup would directly benefit from our program and network partners/mentors
